Dear Church Family,

A few weeks ago my wife Cindy and I decided to visit Ooltewah Adventist Church. Some friends had shared their affection for the Ooltewah church and school, and they thought our family might be a good fit for the senior pastor opening. I was just finishing a Sabbatical writing two books (one about Jesus and one about Scripture) and was praying about returning to pastoral ministry.

When Cindy and I began visiting Ooltewah as guests, we felt such joy and warmth from all of you. And now, by the grace and leading of Christ, we’re your new pastoral family.

Thank you so much for the invitation to join you. We know how important this is, and we look forward to following the steps of your beloved Senior Pastor Peter and Galena Kulakov.

I also want to express my personal joy in teaming up with Youth Pastor Keith and Shayna Bowman, and their terrific kids. Cindy and I just love this godly, gifted couple, and I can’t wait to partner with Pastor Keith in sharing God’s Word.

Finally, I want to thank interim senior pastor Don Pate, who’s a dear friend and colleague. The past two years, as adjunct religion professors at SAU, Pastor Don’s "Life & Teachings of Jesus" class always followed my own. It’s now my honor to follow Pastor Don in ministry at Ooltewah Adventist Church.

This week as I officially began, I’ve loved every moment getting to know each of you—including new colleagues Cathi Demaree and Summer Bradford. I also just love our OAKS School, led by Principal Shelly Parrish and a wonderful team. In this new season, Cindy and I can’t wait to journey together with you all.

This Sabbath my opening sermon is called “The Family of Jesus.” Cindy and I look forward to seeing you.

Your brother in Christ,

Andy Nash, senior pastor

Ooltewah Adventist Church
